Hannah Marie Foundation
Est.
1988
In the early years of
the inn, the Hannah Marie Foundation
was established as an IRS 501-C3*
foundation. Its sole purpose
is to give an annual $500
scholarship to mature women to
improve their employment skills.
This opportunity is open to the
women of Clay County residence who
are 25 years and older, and enrolled
in the Medical Program at the Iowa
Lakes Community College in Spencer,
Iowa.
It is given in honor
of Hannah Marie's sister Beda
Freeburg Sampson, an Iowa farm
woman. Aunt Beda gave
generously to her community by her
support of the Lincoln Lutheran
Church in Clay County, her
dedication to her nursing career in
Spencer, and her leadership skills
in promoting quality 4H programs.
Although the
Foundation was granted IRS
tax-exempt status in 1907, these
awards have been given since
November 1988. Our goal is for
the Foundation to be a perpetual
source for these awards.
Friends and family members have been
honored at birthday, retirement, and
anniversary times. Dedicating
a Foundation Scholarship as a living
memorial would honor a loved ones
memory. Please phone
712-262-1286 for more information.
All applications are
reviewed by the Foundation's
committee, which makes the
selection. All scholarship
monies are used for the scholarships
as there are no administration
costs. The Foundation's Board
is also IRS approved.

Organization, Rule #8734, September
